The 2012 Sustainable Land Lab Competition challenged teams of designers, thinkers and doers to propose innovative projects that transform vacant lots into assets that advance sustainability. Over the course of five months and through an inspiring series of charrettes, exhibitions, and submission rounds, five of the 48 submitting teams were selected to receive $5,000 in seed money and a two-year land lease with which to implement their proposals.
